Hot Spot Policing

By

Definition: Hot spot policing differs from traditional policing techniques in that it saturates high-crime areas with officers in order to capture criminals and prevent more crimes.  Using information gathered by crime analysts, as well as data from CAD systems and locations of calls for service, police departments can identify hot spots and use their manpower and other resources to focus prevention efforts in those areas.
