Tim holds the rank of captain and serves as the assistant chief training officer in the largest statewide law enforcement agency in Florida. He currently works as a police academy instructor, where he oversees training for newly hired recruits, including state certification exam preparation. He also conducts and coordinates training for in-service personnel. He is a certified general law enforcement, firearms, first aid, vehicle operations, defensive tactics and human diversity instructor. He has conducted advanced and specialized training at the Florida Public Safety Institute for certified law enforcement officers.
Experience:
In his more than 11 years of law enforcement experience, Tim has worked closely with all facets of the criminal justice system. He has held several different positions as he increased in rank, having served as a road patrol officer, Traffic Homicide Investigator, and first-line field supervisor, and manager of supervisory personnel. Prior to his current academy assignment, Tim served as the chief recruitment officer for his agency, gaining firsthand knowledge of the hiring practices and recruiting techniques of police agencies across the United States.
Education:
Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University and instructor certification from the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. He also holds several advanced training certificates in the areas of investigation and management. He is currently attending the 16th Session of the Senior Leadership Program at the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute and is conducting research on recruitment and retention issues and practices within the law enforcement community.
