Merry Christmas

This Christmas morning, as so many families are gathered around the tree, there are some mothers and fathers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters who won't be there to join them. While we're thankful for the holiday season, let us also remember those who aren't home today because they are instead patrolling to keep our Christmas safe.

Our EMT's, firefighters and police officers make tremendous sacrifices of their time, especially at this time of year. Sadly, some of them will never make it home. There's no question that law enforcement is a dangerous profession, and recent events have served to remind us just how high the stakes are for everyone -- victims, first responders and citizens alike.

Please take a moment to remember those police officers and firefighters who will never see another Christmas, because they paid the ultimate price to protect the rest of us. Have a joyous and wonderful Christmas, and make it worth their sacrifice.
