The End of the World is Nigh, Or At Least the End of the Semester...

By December 12, 2012

Much ado has been made of the end of the Mayan long count calendar, leading some to believe the end of the world is set to occur on December 21, 2012. That is likely little comfort to those graduating seniors who just spent thousands of dollars and an untold number of sleepless nights preparing to earn their degrees.

Just on the off chance that we're all still here on December 22, there's no time like the present to get ready for a new career or make the choice to enhance your education with an advanced degree.

If you're having difficulty on the job hunt, you may want to consider doing some volunteer work or finding an internship in order to boost your resume and get some good experience. Networking and informational interviews are also vital keys to job search success.

If the end of the world really is nigh, why worry about finding a job in criminal justice or criminology? For one thing, it'll help pass the time and keep your mind from thinking about all of that nasty apocalypse business. For another, if it turns out this was the Mayan civilization's idea of a global, 5,000-year-old prank, you'll want to be ready for work on the 22nd.
